Prince William Secures Major Amazon Deal for Project Close to His Heart
Prince William has secured a significant new broadcasting deal for his Earthshot Prize, with the prestigious awards ceremony set to stream on Amazon Prime Video for the first time as the Prince of Wales expands the global reach of his environmental project.
The Earthshot Prize ceremony is scheduled to take place in Mumbai, India, in November, bringing together an impressive collection of international stars, environmentalists and influential figures for William’s flagship climate initiative.
The move represents an important development for the Earthshot Prize, which has previously reached audiences through broadcasters including the BBC.
The upcoming ceremony will feature a particularly star-studded guest list, with Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek among the major names expected to attend the event.
Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor, and Bridgerton actress Simone Ashley are also set to be part of the high-profile celebration.
Indian filmmaker and television personality Karan Johar will host the awards evening, adding another major Indian entertainment name to William’s environmental project.
Ashley has already spoken enthusiastically about taking part, highlighting the importance of bringing people from different backgrounds together around environmental challenges.
“Bringing this global community together in India proves that real change happens when we unite with ambition, creativity, and optimism,” the actress said.
The Earthshot Prize was established by William to recognise and support innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing environmental problems, with the project increasingly building an international audience.
The move to Prime Video is also notable because the platform has already carried royal-related programming. Earlier this year, Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision was released on Amazon’s streaming service, focusing on King Charles and his environmental vision.
The appearance of another major royal project on the platform has consequently prompted speculation about whether Amazon is developing a broader relationship with the British Royal Family.
The development is particularly interesting given separate reports that Amazon could become involved with Prince Harry’s Invictus Games, which are scheduled to take place in Birmingham in 2027.
The Sun has reported that Amazon may sponsor the next Invictus Games, although there has been no official confirmation of such an agreement.
Any potential connection would therefore involve two separate royal projects rather than evidence of a coordinated deal between William and Harry.
For William, however, the Prime Video agreement gives the Earthshot Prize another major international platform as he prepares to bring the ceremony to India. With a high-profile guest list and global streaming audience, the event could provide a significant opportunity to showcase the environmental work that has become one of the Prince’s defining projects.
