Meghan Markle’s New Message Raises Eyebrows as Charles Spencer’s Diana Book Fuels Royal Row
Meghan Markle has raised eyebrows with a new message promoting a bookmark just as Charles Spencer’s explosive Princess Diana memoir dominates royal headlines, prompting speculation over whether the timing carries a subtle message of support for Prince Harry’s uncle.
The Duchess of Sussex has continued focusing on her lifestyle brand, with a series of promotional updates appearing on social media while controversy surrounding Spencer’s Swan Song: Diana, My Sister intensifies.
In its latest Instagram update, Meghan’s As Ever brand announced the return of what it described as its “best-selling” bookmark, this time presented in a new navy-blue design.
“Our Latest Keepsake,” the brand wrote before revealing that the popular product would soon become available again with an additional message attached to it.
“As Ever’s best-selling bookmark returns tomorrow in a brand new luxurious navy blue with a new reminder to hold close,” the promotional caption stated.
The timing quickly attracted attention because Spencer’s memoir has only just been released, bringing previously disputed recollections involving King Charles and Diana back into the public spotlight.
With As Ever specifically promoting an item associated with reading during the controversy, some observers have interpreted the post as a possible indirect nod towards Spencer and his newly released book.
However, there is currently no evidence that Meghan, her team or As Ever intended the bookmark announcement to reference Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.
The promotional message does not mention Spencer, Diana, King Charles or the memoir, meaning any connection between the two developments remains speculation based largely on timing.
Nevertheless, the post arrives at a particularly sensitive moment for Harry and Meghan because Spencer recently revealed that both Prince William and Prince Harry were aware of his book before its publication.
Speaking about his nephews, Spencer said the contents would not come as a surprise to them, although that does not establish that either William or Harry approved of his allegations or supported his decision to publish them.
Buckingham Palace has already taken the highly unusual step of responding to one of Spencer’s claims, saying the pain of “fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory” many years after a loss.
Reports have suggested Charles is deeply unhappy about the controversy, but there has been no official confirmation that the King considers Meghan’s latest As Ever promotion connected to Spencer or that the post has intensified his reaction.
For now, Meghan’s message is officially a commercial promotion for an As Ever product rather than a statement about the royal dispute. Yet with Spencer’s memoir dominating attention and Harry’s prior knowledge of the book now public, the timing has inevitably encouraged speculation about whether the Duchess was sending a carefully hidden message or simply promoting her brand during an unusually turbulent week for the Royal Family.
