Prince William and Kate Reportedly Decline Prince Harry and Meghan Reunion as Charles Plans Meeting
Prince William and Princess Kate have reportedly declined to join a potential reunion with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as King Charles is said to be preparing to meet the Sussexes with Archie and Lilibet.
The reported decision would mean Charles could see his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren without William and Kate being involved, highlighting the continuing distance between the two royal households.
Celebrity commentator Rob Shuter claimed that Harry and his representatives have attempted to make contact with William and Kate about a possible meeting during the Sussexes’ extended stay in Britain.
“My sources tell me that Harry and Harry’s people have reached out to the Wilsons, to William and Catherine,” Shuter claimed, although the reference to the “Wilsons” appears to be an error in the original report and presumably refers to the Waleses.
He further claimed that William and Kate currently have nothing scheduled with Harry and Meghan and suggested that they may not yet have responded to the reported outreach.
The claims come shortly after reports that Charles could hold a private meeting with Harry, Meghan and their children before Christmas.
If the reported meeting between the King and Sussexes takes place, it would represent a significant family development after years of tension between Harry and several members of the Royal Family.
However, there is currently no official confirmation that Charles has arranged such a meeting, nor has Buckingham Palace confirmed any invitation or schedule involving the Sussexes.
Likewise, there is no confirmed statement from Kensington Palace indicating that William and Kate have formally rejected a reunion invitation from Harry and Meghan.
The reported difference between the King and the Waleses has nevertheless fuelled speculation about whether the Sussexes could rebuild their relationship with Charles without achieving the same progress with William.
Harry’s relationship with his older brother has remained particularly strained since the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties and subsequently moved to the United States.
The brothers have occasionally been linked to the same major royal occasions, but there has been little public evidence of a broader reconciliation between them.
The latest claims also come amid renewed attention surrounding possible projects connected to Princess Diana, including reports that Harry has been exploring a documentary or other project marking the 30th anniversary of his mother’s death.
Some reports have claimed that William has reservations about projects that could place him and Harry in competition over Diana’s legacy, although there is no confirmed evidence that he was “furious” specifically because Harry was considering such a project.
William has previously spoken about the profound effect of losing his mother and has generally maintained a cautious approach to public discussions about Diana.
The brothers’ different approaches to their mother’s legacy could therefore remain a sensitive issue, particularly as the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death approaches.
For now, the reported lack of a meeting between William, Kate and the Sussexes should be treated as an unconfirmed claim, while the alleged Charles reunion also remains subject to official confirmation.
If Charles does meet Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet without William and Kate present, it could mark a notable but limited step in the wider family relationship rather than evidence that the long-running royal rift has been resolved.
