Meghan Markle Hit With Nigel Farage’s Deportation Joke as He Issues Warning Over Harry
Meghan Markle has become the target of a provocative joke from Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who laughed that the Duchess of Sussex “might” be sent back to America if he eventually becomes Britain’s prime minister.
Farage made the remarks while appearing on US political commentator Benny Johnson’s podcast, where the conversation turned to Prince Harry and Meghan following their return to Britain.
The politician strongly criticised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, describing their behaviour as an “absolute disgrace” while offering an unexpectedly sympathetic assessment of Harry’s situation.
Farage claimed he had begun to “feel a bit sorry” for the Duke, arguing that Harry’s public image had changed dramatically from the days when he was one of the Royal Family’s most popular figures.
“The behaviour of Meghan, of Harry, has been an absolute disgrace,” Farage said, before pointing to the couple’s return to Britain years after stepping down as senior working royals.
He then offered his personal interpretation of their marriage, describing Harry as a “weak man” and Meghan as a “strong woman” who, in his view, had influenced the direction of the Duke’s life.
Farage claimed the dynamic was a familiar story, saying similar themes could be found in Shakespeare and the Bible. His comments represented his personal opinion rather than any established account of Harry and Meghan’s relationship.
The Reform UK leader also recalled Harry’s military service in Afghanistan, his younger public persona and his popularity before his relationship with Meghan became one of the world’s most closely followed royal stories.
“He was the most popular royal for 100 years, people loved him,” Farage claimed, before adding that he believed Harry had made a “bad life choice.”
Despite his criticism, Farage said he did not wish the Duke any harm. “I hope he sorts it out,” he said, suggesting he remained sympathetic towards Harry despite strongly disapproving of the Sussexes’ decisions.
The conversation then took an even more provocative turn when Johnson jokingly asked Farage not to deport Meghan back to the United States if he ever entered Downing Street.
Johnson joked that America was enjoying its “independence from Meghan Markle,” prompting laughter from Farage before the British politician delivered his own tongue-in-cheek response.
“You might get her back,” Farage replied. “You might get her back if I’m in charge.” The exchange was clearly delivered as political humour rather than an announcement of an actual deportation policy targeting the Duchess.
Farage’s remarks are nevertheless likely to generate fresh controversy around Harry and Meghan as their renewed presence in Britain attracts growing attention. With the Sussexes attempting to establish their latest UK chapter, the couple are once again finding themselves at the centre of political as well as royal debate this time courtesy of one of Britain’s most outspoken political figures.
