Joe Manganiello Breaks Silence After Sofía Vergara Shares Narcissistic Man Post
Joe Manganiello has responded after his ex-wife Sofía Vergara shared a social media post about narcissistic men, telling anyone drawing conclusions about their split to read his new memoir before judging his side of the story.
The actor, 49, addressed the online speculation during an appearance on CBS Mornings on Monday, ahead of the release of his memoir, Bloodlines, which explores his serious health struggles and the personal challenges that followed.
Host Gayle King brought up Vergara’s recent Instagram activity, noting that her son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, had shared a chart contrasting the behaviour of a “good man” with that of a “narcissistic man”.
Vergara, 54, subsequently reposted the chart to her Instagram Story. The original post included a warning that a narcissistic person may resent someone regardless of how much that person does for them.
The post quickly attracted attention because it appeared amid renewed discussion of the former couple’s relationship. However, Vergara has not said that the repost was directed at Manganiello.
Asked about the situation, the actor responded: “Anybody who said that should read the book first,” adding that readers should understand what the memoir is actually about before reaching conclusions.
Manganiello described Bloodlines as a story about personal suffering, survival and hope, emphasising that its central focus was not simply the end of his marriage.
The memoir recounts his experience with a near-fatal autoimmune disease and examines how the illness affected his life and relationship with Vergara.
In the book, Manganiello alleges that their relationship became “devoid of any emotionality”. He also claims Vergara refused to hug him and mocked his pet Chihuahua during a difficult period.
Those descriptions represent Manganiello’s account of the relationship, and the supplied report does not include a response from Vergara addressing those specific allegations.
Speaking to People, the actor explained that discussing the breakdown of his marriage was not the main purpose of writing the book, but was necessary to explain his journey towards healing.
“I tell the truth in the book, even when it’s super painful,” he said, describing his approach to recounting the experiences that shaped him.
Manganiello and Vergara married in November 2015, becoming one of Hollywood’s most recognisable couples before announcing the end of their relationship in 2023.
Following their separation, Vergara said their differing views about having children contributed to the breakdown of the marriage. Manganiello has disputed that explanation.
In his memoir, he writes that his autoimmune condition led him to decide against becoming a father, offering a different account of the disagreement that became public after their split.
The latest exchange has brought renewed attention to their contrasting perspectives, although neither the Instagram repost nor Manganiello’s comments establish that the two were directly addressing each other.
With Bloodlines now being released, Manganiello is presenting his experiences through his own account, while Vergara has not confirmed whether her social media post had any connection to her former husband.
