Royal Family Sparks Fresh Hope for Archie and Lilibet As Prince Harry and Meghan Push Ahead With UK Life
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s wellbeing could become an important factor in how the Royal Family handles Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s renewed life in Britain, with royal expert Jennie Bond suggesting the Sussexes have made their intentions clear and the family now has to find a way forward.
Harry and Meghan are understood to have returned to Britain with their children for an extended period, with rebuilding family connections and creating new opportunities for Archie and Lilibet among the issues surrounding their move.
Their return, however, has not been without difficulties. Palace guidance has reinforced Harry and Meghan’s position as non-working royals, while security arrangements have continued to present practical challenges for the family.
Those concerns became particularly apparent when Archie and Lilibet were moved from their original school shortly after starting because of difficulties surrounding their commute and security arrangements.
A Sussex spokesperson previously said the school change followed discussions with the family’s security team about “the practicalities of their current arrangements.”
Harry has since provided a reassuring update, saying his children are now “happy in school” as the family settles into its new routine.
Despite those early difficulties, Bond believes Harry and Meghan are considering the bigger picture and may have developed a lifestyle that allows them to maintain connections with several countries.
She suggested the Sussexes have “worked out a plan to be an international family, sharing their time between the UK, Montecito and occasionally Portugal.”
According to Bond, the Royal Family may therefore have little choice but to adjust to Harry and Meghan maintaining a significant presence in Britain while continuing their independent lives outside the working monarchy.
“They’ve made it clear that they haven’t burned their bridges, but I’m sure they will want to give Archie and Lilibet as settled a school life as possible,” Bond told The Mirror.
Her comments also leave room for the possibility that family relationships could gradually improve, although there has been no official announcement of a wider reconciliation between the Sussexes and senior royals.
“Harry and Meghan have presented them with a fait accompli and, for the foreseeable future, they simply have to find a way to make it work,” Bond said of the situation facing the wider family.
The commentator acknowledged that the problems surrounding the children’s original school arrangements were likely difficult, describing the disruption as potentially “disappointing and unsettling for the whole family.”
However, Bond also pointed to Harry and Meghan handling the complications “relatively quietly” as a potentially positive sign. With Archie and Lilibet now said by Harry to be happy at school, their wellbeing could provide common ground as the Sussexes establish their UK routine and the Royal Family adjusts to their renewed presence in Britain.
