Prince Harry Risks Royal Reconciliation as Charles Spencer ‘Alliance’ Claims Raise New Questions
Prince Harry could face another obstacle in his hopes of rebuilding relations with the Royal Family as commentators claim his closeness to Charles Spencer may complicate reconciliation following the Earl’s controversial Princess Diana revelations.
The Duke of Sussex has been drawn into the discussion surrounding his uncle’s forthcoming memoir Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, despite Harry himself remaining publicly silent about its most contentious claims.
Spencer’s book contains several striking recollections involving King Charles and the Royal Family, with further revelations expected when the memoir is released in full.
Against that backdrop, some royal commentators have questioned whether Harry’s relationship with his maternal uncle extends beyond ordinary family ties and reflects a shared position over Diana’s history.
Commentator Lee Cohen went considerably further, alleging on X that Harry and Spencer were determined to damage Charles and the monarchy, although he provided no evidence establishing such a coordinated plan.
Cohen described the pair in strongly critical terms and argued that both the Government and monarchy should act to prevent what he believes they are attempting to achieve.
Royal author Tom Bower has separately raised the possibility of an alliance, pointing to Harry’s reported closeness with Spencer and suggestions that the Duke stayed with his uncle before establishing his latest routine in Britain.
Speaking to GB News, Bower claimed Spencer “is not only selling a book” but had “undoubtedly formed an alliance with Harry and with the Duchess” aimed at somehow damaging the King.
That remains Bower’s allegation rather than an established fact. Neither Harry, Meghan nor Spencer has announced such an alliance or said they are working together against Charles or the monarchy.
Indeed, Spencer has publicly described himself as a “benign figure” in the lives of both Harry and Prince William and said he stands with both of his late sister’s sons rather than choosing between them.
Harry has also avoided publicly endorsing his uncle’s disputed claims. When directly asked about Spencer’s book while arriving at a recent Invictus-related event, the Duke simply continued inside without responding.
Claims that the controversy has already destroyed Harry’s “last chance” of reconciliation are similarly unconfirmed. There has been no announcement from Charles or Buckingham Palace saying the door to a personal relationship has been closed.
The distinction is particularly important because reconciliation with family members is separate from returning to official royal duties, with Palace guidance continuing to make clear that Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals.
For now, Harry’s relationship with Spencer may generate further speculation as the memoir attracts attention, but there is no confirmed evidence of a coordinated campaign against the King. Whether the controversy affects Harry’s continuing efforts to rebuild family relationships will depend on developments beyond the commentators’ claims.
