The source reportedly acknowledged that such a change would require time, particularly with the royal family dealing with the continuing controversy surrounding Prince Andrew and King Charles’ own health battle.
“It needs time, especially amid the Andrew crisis and his health battle with cancer at an advanced age,” the insider said, adding that a potential change could “actually be a positive thing for the institution as a whole.”
Whether or not Harry ever receives a formal royal role, his reported happiness at being back in Britain appears to be connected to more than the possibility of returning to the monarchy.
The Duke has old friendships, memories and connections to the country, while the royal residences and places he visited throughout his childhood continue to hold personal significance for him.
Harry’s charitable activities have also allowed him to maintain a public role focused on service, with his work for causes such as the Invictus Games continuing to attract attention and support.
