King Charles Makes Big Announcement As Prince Harry and Meghan Landed in UK
Buckingham Palace has made a major announcement about King Charles just hours after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle landed in the UK with their children, adding another significant royal development to an already busy week.
The 77-year-old monarch and his 79-year-old wife are set to undertake a week-long tour of the Caribbean later this year, visiting Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas and Guyana as part of an important Commonwealth engagement.
Buckingham Palace announced the tour through the Royal Family’s official social media account on Wednesday, sharing a portrait of the King and Queen alongside details of their upcoming overseas programme.
“The King and Queen will undertake an Autumn Tour from Tuesday, 27th October to Wednesday, 4th November 2026,” the Palace statement said, confirming the dates for the important royal visit.
The couple will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, known as CHOGM, which is scheduled to take place in Antigua and Barbuda from November 1 to November 4.
The meeting will bring together leaders from across the Commonwealth, making the King’s attendance particularly important as he continues his responsibilities as head of the organisation and monarch of several Commonwealth realms.
Charles, who is the father of both Prince William and Prince Harry, also holds the position of King of Antigua and Barbuda. He became head of the Commonwealth following his accession to the throne after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Commonwealth brings together more than 50 countries, many of which have historical links to the British Empire. The organisation has evolved considerably over the years and now represents an independent association of nations working together on shared interests.
Before arriving in Antigua and Barbuda for the Commonwealth meeting, Charles and Camilla are expected to visit the Bahamas, where the King is also the constitutional monarch.
Their itinerary will then include a state visit to Guyana, giving the royal couple an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic and Commonwealth relationships while meeting political leaders and local communities.
The announcement comes at a particularly interesting moment for the Royal Family, as Harry and Meghan have just returned to Britain with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet after spending several years primarily based in the United States.
While the Sussexes’ arrival has generated intense public interest, Charles and Camilla are continuing with their official responsibilities and preparing for an important international programme.
The Caribbean tour is expected to involve a demanding schedule of engagements, meetings and ceremonial events, with the King and Queen representing Britain and the Crown while strengthening ties with the countries they visit.
For Charles, the journey will also underline the importance of his role within the Commonwealth at a time when the organisation remains a central part of his duties as monarch.
The timing of the announcement could therefore provide another reminder that the Royal Family’s official programme continues regardless of the renewed attention surrounding Harry and Meghan’s return.
