Royal Family Shares First Statement On Prince Edward After Ex’s Claims
The Royal Family has shared its first public update on Prince Edward after fresh claims about his past relationship emerged, with the Duke of Edinburgh appearing to move forward with his royal duties as he visited Dance Base in Scotland.
The Palace highlighted Edward’s latest engagement through the Royal Family’s official social media account, focusing on his work with the arts organisation rather than the allegations surrounding his personal life.
Edward visited Dance Base in Edinburgh in his role as Patron, meeting dance artists and learning more about the charity’s work supporting people across the wider community.
The Palace captioned photographs from the visit: “As Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh has visited Dance Base in Scotland. On a recent visit, HRH visited dance artists during a rehearsal and learnt more about the way the charity supports the wider community.”
The Royal Family’s update also explained the wider work carried out by the organisation, which operates across four studios in Edinburgh.
“Based in Edinburgh, the charity supports dance artists, international exchange students and community projects across its four studios,” the Palace said, highlighting the role of dance in providing inspiration and empowerment.
During the engagement, Edward appeared to take a keen interest in the activities taking place around him. One photograph showed the Duke watching a dance class alongside other visitors while performers took part in the session.
His appearance came shortly after renewed attention surrounding claims made by his former girlfriend Ruthie Henshall about their relationship. Henshall has recently discussed aspects of her past with Edward while promoting her new book.
The revelations have reportedly attracted attention because Edward and Henshall were romantically involved before the Duke married Sophie, now the Duchess of Edinburgh.
Despite the renewed interest in his past, Edward has not publicly addressed the claims during his latest official appearance. Instead, he continued with his scheduled responsibilities and placed the focus on his patronage work.
The Palace’s decision to highlight the engagement also ensures that the public attention surrounding Edward remains centred on his current role rather than his personal history.
The Duke has increasingly taken on important responsibilities alongside Sophie as the Royal Family continues to rely on a smaller group of working members.
His work with organisations such as Dance Base allows Edward to support community projects while maintaining a visible presence on behalf of the monarchy.
The latest engagement also comes as members of the Royal Family prepare for their traditional summer activities in Scotland, including events connected to King Charles and the Balmoral season.
For now, Edward appears determined to carry on with his duties despite the renewed scrutiny surrounding his past relationship. The Palace’s latest update offers a clear picture of the Duke concentrating on his present responsibilities rather than allowing old claims to dominate his public role.
