King Charles’s Former Butler Reveals Zara and Mike Tindall’s Predicted Future With Prince William and Kate

Zara and Mike Tindall could become an increasingly familiar presence alongside Prince William and Princess Kate at royal family gatherings, according to King Charles’s former butler, who believes the couple’s popularity makes them valuable members of the wider royal family.
The prediction comes as Mike celebrates his 48th birthday, with former royal household employee Grant Harrold sharing his thoughts on the couple’s future and their relationship with the monarchy.
Harrold, who worked for Charles between 2004 and 2011, spoke to GB News on behalf of Smooth Spins about whether Zara and Mike could take on a more prominent position within the royal family.
Despite their popularity, he believes the couple are unlikely to become working royals, having established successful careers and independent lives outside the institution.
“They’re not working royals and, to be frank, they don’t want to be. I can’t see that changing from an official point,” Harrold said.
Zara, the daughter of Princess Anne, has built a distinguished sporting career as an accomplished equestrian and Olympic medallist, while Mike made his name as an England rugby international before pursuing business and media opportunities.
Their achievements have helped the couple develop public identities beyond their royal connections, allowing them to maintain a relaxed and approachable image.
Harrold believes those qualities are precisely what make Zara and Mike such an asset to the wider family, particularly as the monarchy continues to navigate changing public expectations.
“Both are well-liked, and they have built great sporting careers of their own merit, and people really like that about them,” he explained.
He added that the Royal Family would be unwise not to make the most of the couple’s popularity, suggesting their appeal could translate into a more visible presence at family occasions.
According to Harrold, King Charles and Prince William understand the positive attention Zara and Mike can attract, even without giving them official royal responsibilities.
“I think we will see more of them at family events and taking on a brighter spotlight on the more personal side of family events,” he predicted.
His comments suggest the couple’s future role could involve being more prominent during private and family celebrations rather than undertaking formal duties on behalf of the Crown.
Harrold also highlighted the support Zara and Mike could provide to William and Kate, describing them as “key support for Prince William and Catherine”.
Their close family connections could make them familiar faces at major occasions as the Waleses continue their own royal responsibilities.
“I imagine they will be a key part of Easter and Christmas celebrations for years to come,” Harrold said, pointing to the importance of family traditions.
However, his comments are a prediction rather than an announcement of any formal change to Zara and Mike’s status. For now, the couple appear set to continue balancing their independent careers with their place in the royal family, while potentially taking a more visible part in future family gatherings.
