Prince Harry Decided to Keep Prince William and Kate Out of His Latest Public Discussion
Prince Harry has reportedly decided to keep Prince William and Princess Catherine out of his latest public discussion, fuelling speculation that the Duke of Sussex is determined to avoid adding fresh tension to their long-running family rift.
The Duke recently appeared on camera to speak candidly about the grief he experienced after losing his mother, Princess Diana, at a young age. Reflecting on years of emotional struggle, Harry admitted that he had tried to suppress his feelings in the hope that the pain would eventually disappear.
Instead, the Duke explained that he carried his grief for far longer than he realised, with feelings of guilt shaping the way he allowed himself to experience happiness.
“I’d spent so long emotionally numb, to a large extent, because I felt disloyal and guilty for the possibility of being happy and joyful without her,” Harry said.
He went on to describe how he felt an obligation to remain unhappy as a way of demonstrating how deeply he missed his mother, even when that emotional burden made it difficult to move forward with his life.
“I felt like I had to be sad and I had to be emotionally numb in order to prove to her that I missed her,” the Duke explained.
Harry said his outlook eventually changed when he came to understand that Diana would have wanted him to find happiness rather than remain trapped in grief.
“But the reality is, what I discovered was actually she just wanted me to be happy. And that was a huge mental shift for me,” he shared, adding that the realisation freed him and gave him a different perspective on life.
Although Harry discussed deeply personal experiences, attention has also turned to the royal figures he did not mention during the appearance. His brother William, sister-in-law Catherine and uncle Andrew were notably absent from the discussion.
According to Rob Shuter, Harry deliberately avoided those subjects to prevent further controversy surrounding the Royal Family. However, the reported decision has not been independently confirmed by the Duke or his representatives.
An insider quoted in Shuter’s report claimed that Harry was comfortable discussing his mother and the impact of losing her, but had drawn a firm boundary around other members of his family.
“Harry was willing to talk about Diana, grief and losing his mother. What he wasn’t willing to discuss was William, Catherine or Uncle Andrew. Those subjects were off-limits,” the source alleged.
The reported approach could reflect a desire to keep the focus on Harry’s personal experiences rather than reignite public debate about his relationship with the Waleses. However, his silence alone does not establish whether he intends to repair the family relationship or simply avoid discussing private matters publicly.
For now, Harry’s comments have offered a rare glimpse into how he has processed Diana’s death, while claims that he deliberately avoided mentioning William and Catherine remain based on an unnamed source rather than a confirmed statement from the Duke.
