Prince Harry’s Royal Return Sparks Public Reaction as Britons Urge Prince William Reconciliation
Prince Harry’s reported return to Britain has sparked a fresh wave of reaction among Britons, with a new survey suggesting that a majority of the public would like the Duke of Sussex to reconcile with his elder brother, Prince William.
The poll comes amid continued speculation over Harry and Meghan Markle’s plans to spend an extended period in the UK with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
According to a recent YouGov survey of 2,128 British adults conducted in collaboration with The Times, 58 per cent of those questioned said they would like William and Harry to resolve their long-running feud.
Meanwhile, 13 per cent said they did not want the brothers to reconcile, while another 28 per cent remained unsure about whether the pair should put their differences behind them.
The findings come as the royal family continues to face significant challenges, with King Charles’ health concerns and ongoing family tensions adding to the attention surrounding Harry’s reported return to the royal fold.
However, the wider response to the Sussexes’ return appears considerably less positive. Just 27 per cent of those surveyed said they had a favourable view of Harry and Meghan coming back to Britain, while 46 per cent expressed an unfavourable opinion of the move.
The same survey highlighted a substantial difference in public sentiment toward the Prince and Princess of Wales. William recorded a 76 per cent favourability rating, while Catherine, Princess of Wales, received a 74 per cent favourable rating.
Harry and Meghan, meanwhile, received significantly lower figures, with 31 per cent of respondents holding a favourable opinion of the Duke of Sussex and only 22 per cent saying the same about the Duchess of Sussex.
The brothers have reportedly remained largely estranged since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, with Harry having publicly discussed his frustrations and concerns surrounding his relationship with William.
William, for his part, has been reported to feel deeply betrayed by Harry’s actions and revelations, while some reports have suggested that the future King remains unhappy about the possibility of his younger brother receiving another opportunity to repair family relationships.
Harry and Meghan’s reported decision to return to Britain for an extended period has therefore created another complicated situation for William, who is believed to have concerns about the implications of their renewed presence in the country.
Despite the current tensions, William and Harry could eventually find themselves together for a significant family occasion, with reports suggesting that they may reunite around the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death next year, although no official plans have been confirmed.
Interestingly, attitudes toward the Sussexes’ return also appeared to vary across age groups. People aged between 25 and 49 were reportedly among the most positive about the couple’s return, while those aged 65 and over were the most opposed.
Overall, the survey suggests that while many Britons remain hopeful that Harry and William can repair their relationship, the public is far less enthusiastic about the Sussexes’ return itself. Only 23 per cent of respondents said they believed the move would be good for the royal family, compared with 44 per cent who thought it would be bad for the monarchy.
