Meghan Markle’s First Official Appearance in UK to Clash With Royal Calendar
Meghan Markle’s first major public appearance following her return to UK could come during one of the busiest periods in the royal calendar, potentially placing the Duchess of Sussex back in the spotlight while senior members of the royal family carry out important engagements.
The Duchess has not made a major public appearance on British soil since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral four years ago, despite recently returning to the UK with Prince Harry and their children for an extended period.
Meghan was reportedly in Britain several weeks ago around the time of the Sussexes’ Highgrove meeting with King Charles, but she remained away from public view. There was only a brief glimpse of her after arriving with Harry at Birmingham Airport at the end of August.
Since then, Harry and Meghan have largely remained out of sight. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have also started school in Britain, but the family has maintained a notably low profile during the important transition.
It now appears Meghan may be waiting for the right moment to finally break cover as Harry prepares his own growing list of public engagements scheduled to take place over the course of the month.
“Meghan is totally focused on getting the kids settled for now,” a source told The Sun, indicating that helping Archie and Lilibet adjust to their new routines remains the Duchess’s immediate priority following the family’s move.
“There are a lot of things to arrange,” the insider added, suggesting Meghan’s absence from public view is connected to the practical challenges surrounding the family’s transition rather than an immediate plan to return to high-profile appearances.
According to the report, it could still be “weeks” before Meghan makes her first major public appearance. That timing, however, could potentially coincide with an especially packed period for King Charles, Queen Camilla and other working members of the royal family.
The royals have returned to their duties following their summer break, meaning the official calendar is expected to become increasingly busy as autumn progresses and major engagements begin taking place both in Britain and overseas.
October is expected to be particularly significant, with a State Visit scheduled alongside an overseas visit by King Charles and Queen Camilla, creating another period of intense public and media attention around the monarchy.
If Meghan chooses to make an appearance during the same period, the timing could inevitably attract comparisons between the Sussexes and the working royals. However, there is currently no confirmation of when or where Meghan intends to make her public return.
Prince Harry, meanwhile, is already preparing for several engagements of his own. The Duke of Sussex is set to make a prominent comeback with the WellChild Awards, an event with which he has maintained a longstanding connection.
Harry is also expected to take part in a skydive supporting military charities after making a promise to 102-year-old veteran Ed Marshall during a visit to Toronto, Canada, last November, adding another significant engagement to his schedule.
For now, Meghan appears focused on Archie and Lilibet as they settle into their new lives in Britain. But with reports suggesting she could finally break cover within weeks, her eventual appearance may arrive right in the middle of a packed royal diary, ensuring considerable attention when the Duchess finally steps back into the UK spotlight.
