Meghan Markle Receives Major Update Over Rumoured Return to Acting

Meghan Markle has received a clear update over speculation surrounding a possible appearance in Guy Ritchie’s hit series The Gentlemen, after rumours about the Duchess of Sussex potentially joining the show gained attention over the past several days.

Reports had suggested Meghan could be featured in the popular series, raising questions about whether the former Suits actress might be preparing to take another step back towards acting following years away from her previous Hollywood career.

However, The Gentlemen star Theo James has now dismissed the speculation, making it clear that reports linking Meghan with the series were not based on any confirmed plans for her to become part of the show.

James addressed the rumours during an interview with Town & Country, where he initially responded with humour when discussing claims that a “certain ex-royal” could potentially appear alongside him in the series.

Rather than immediately naming Meghan, the Hollywood actor jokingly suggested another well-known figure with royal connections was joining the programme, bringing Sarah Ferguson into his playful response to the growing casting speculation.

“Yes, Fergie is joining. She’ll be playing my love interest,” James joked, referring to Sarah Ferguson as he made light of the reports that an ex-royal could become part of The Gentlemen.

The actor then offered a more direct response to the Meghan speculation and dismissed reports of her involvement. He suggested the stories surrounding the Duchess potentially joining the programme amounted largely to “hot air”.

“No, I think [reports of Markle joining the show] were mainly a lot of hot air,” James clarified, appearing to shut down hopes among viewers who may have expected to see Meghan making an appearance in the series.

Instead, the actor explained that the immediate priority is generating as much attention as possible for the programme’s second season before those involved turn their attention towards what comes next for the successful production.

“At the moment, we’re just trying to get as many eyes on season two, and then season three will happen soon,” he explained, without providing any indication that Meghan had been approached or was being considered for an upcoming role.

James continued having fun with the royal rumours during a separate conversation with Extra. This time, the actor unexpectedly brought Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, into the discussion while joking about the supposed casting developments.

“No, Prince Harry is playing one of my love interests. So that’s the Meghan Markle thing…” James joked, once again using humour to dismiss the growing speculation surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the popular series.

The comments appear to put an end, for now, to suggestions that Meghan could be preparing to join The Gentlemen. Despite the excitement generated by the reports, James’ response indicates there is currently no substance behind claims of her involvement.

While Meghan’s previous career as an actress continues to generate interest whenever potential television opportunities emerge, her rumoured appearance in Guy Ritchie’s series appears to have been nothing more than speculation, with Theo James firmly but humorously shutting down the latest claims.
