Donald Trump Praised King Charles But Reserved Perfect Rating for Princess Kate

Donald Trump has praised King Charles and several members of the Royal Family but the US President appears to have reserved one of his strongest compliments for Princess Kate.

The President welcomed King Charles and Queen Camilla to the White House in April 2026 during a four-day programme that reportedly included a state banquet and an address to Congress.

Trump publicly expressed his admiration for the British monarch during the visit, describing King Charles as the “greatest king” while speaking to the press.

However, according to royal author Robert Hardman, Trump’s interest and admiration for the Royal Family extended far beyond his public comments about Charles.

Hardman reportedly met Trump in the Oval Office during the royal visit, where the pair discussed the author’s biography of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Hardman recalled that Trump was particularly interested in Prince William and appeared keen to share his thoughts about the future King.

“William, he’ll be a good King, won’t he?” Trump reportedly asked before offering his own glowing assessment of the Prince of Wales.

“He’s very nice. A great guy. I like him,” the President reportedly said, suggesting that William had left a strong impression on him during their previous encounters.

Trump was also reportedly full of admiration for Princess Kate, who received perhaps the most striking description from the President during his conversation with Hardman.

According to the royal author, Trump described the Princess of Wales as “perfect” and “so great,” offering an especially warm assessment of William’s wife.

The President also reportedly asked about Kate’s wellbeing following her cancer diagnosis and praised the courage she showed while navigating a difficult and highly public health journey.

“She was sick, people said crazy things about her, and she was so brave,” Trump reportedly said, referring to the intense speculation and public attention surrounding the Princess during her recovery.

Trump’s comments came months after he last met the Princess of Wales at a state banquet at Windsor Castle in September, where Kate was seated beside the President during the glittering occasion.

The Princess made a memorable appearance at the dinner in a couture gown designed by British designer Phillipa Lepley, with Trump later describing her as “so radiant, and so healthy and so beautiful.”

While King Charles received the remarkable title of the “greatest king,” Trump’s reported comments suggest that Princess Kate received an equally special verdict, with the President appearing to reserve his “perfect” rating for the future Queen.
