Prince Harry’s Cousin Reveals Her True Feelings About Sussexes Return To UK
Prince Harry’s cousin Lady Eliza Spencer has revealed her true feelings about Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to UK, describing the move as “exciting” and saying she would love to find time to visit the Sussexes.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Birmingham on Wednesday afternoon with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as the family prepares for the start of the new school year.
Harry and Meghan are expected to stay at a private, non-royal residence in the Cotswolds during their time in Britain, rather than living at one of the Royal Family’s official residences.
Their return has attracted considerable attention, with speculation continuing over how the Sussexes’ presence in Britain could affect their relationships with members of the Royal Family and Harry’s wider circle of relatives.
However, while there may be uncertainty about how some royals feel about having Harry and Meghan back in Britain, one member of Harry’s family appears to be genuinely delighted by their return.
Lady Eliza Spencer, the daughter of Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer, shared her reaction just hours after the Sussexes arrived in the country.
Speaking during the official launch of her rosé brand on Wednesday night, Eliza was asked about Harry and Meghan moving back to Britain and gave a particularly warm response.
“Absolutely, it’s exciting! We would love to be able to find some time to visit,” she told The Mirror, making it clear that she would welcome an opportunity to see the Sussexes during their stay.
Eliza was then asked whether she would exchange wine-making tips with Meghan, who has developed her own rosé through her lifestyle brand, As Ever.
The question prompted a playful response from Eliza, who simply quipped, “Maybe!” when asked about the possibility of swapping advice with Meghan.
There has been no confirmation about how other members of the Royal Family will navigate having the Sussexes living closer to them, particularly given the long-running tensions between Harry and some of his relatives.
Harry has nevertheless continued to have connections to his late mother Princess Diana’s side of the family, which has often been viewed as a supportive part of his wider family circle during difficult periods.
Charles Spencer, Diana’s brother and the uncle of both Prince William and Prince Harry, has remained an important figure in their extended family, making Eliza’s warm reaction to Harry’s return less surprising.
For Harry, having relatives on his mother’s side openly express excitement about his return could offer a welcome sense of familiarity as he and Meghan spend more time in Britain, although it remains unclear whether the move will lead to any significant change in his relationship with the wider Royal Family.
